Privacy Policy
Effective November 6, 2026
STAGE is a Mac app that edits your video when you tell it what to change. It is made by Claps Artificial Intelligence Inc. (“we”). Your videos never leave your Mac. To do what you ask, the app sends our servers what you type, the text of what is said in your video, and a few facts about your project. This policy lists everything that leaves your Mac, who receives it, how long it is kept, and what you can do about it.
The short version
- Your video, audio and image files stay on your Mac. No request the app makes has a place to carry a frame or a sound.
- The words you type and the transcript of your video go through our servers to OpenAI so the assistant can work. We do not store them on our servers.
- We keep your account, your plan, your credits and counts of what you use.
- Usage analytics are off until you say yes, and you can change your mind in Settings.
- We do not sell your personal information or share it for advertising.
1. What stays on your Mac
These never reach us, and we have no way to see them:
- Your video, audio and image files, and the renders, thumbnails, audio analysis and masks the app makes from them.
- Where your files are on your disk. Paths are never sent, only file names.
- Your projects, including what you typed and what STAGE replied, in the app's database on your Mac. It is protected by your macOS account and, if you turn it on, FileVault. It is not separately encrypted.
- The app's log, which holds ids, error codes, versions and counts, and no video, words or file names. It stays on your Mac unless you email it to us.
We receive no crash reports. macOS keeps its own, and sends them to Apple only if you agreed to that for your whole Mac. Your sign-in session is stored on your Mac, encrypted with your Keychain.
To remove all of this, delete the app and the folder ~/Library/Application Support/STAGE.
2. What we collect, and why
| What | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your email address, a display name, and an account id | When you create an account. The display name is your name from Google, or else the first part of your email address | To give you an account, sign you in, and write to you about it |
| A one-time sign-in code | When you sign in with email. It expires in 10 minutes | To prove the address is yours |
| What you type, earlier requests and replies in that project, and the results of the app's tools | Each time you ask STAGE for something | To work out what you want and answer you |
| The text of what is said in your video, as sentences | When a function needs it: hooks, keywords, titles, descriptions, short clips, finding B-roll, reviewing a project, and translating captions | So the assistant can work with your words. The app makes the transcript on your Mac and sends only the text |
| Facts about your project: the video's name without its extension, its length and size, whether it has sound and in what language, the names of the files in use, and the names of the changes made | Each time you ask STAGE for something | So the assistant knows what it is editing |
| Words describing stock footage, or a sentence describing a shot or background to generate, with a shape, a length and a quality | When you ask for stock footage or a generation. The assistant usually writes these words from your request | To search for or create what you asked for |
| Your plan, its status and renewal date, your credit balance and its history, and Stripe's ids and the amounts of your payments | When you buy something, and as you use credits | To bill you correctly and run your credits |
| Counts of what you use: requests, model tokens and their cost to us, stock searches, generations, and the name of each task. These records hold none of your words | As you use STAGE | To apply your plan's limits and keep the service affordable |
| Technical data: your IP address, the app's version, and a log line with your account id, the route, the result and how long it took | With each request | To limit abuse, keep the service secure, and find out what went wrong when you ask for help |
| What you tell us, and any log you attach | When you email us | To help you |
| Usage analytics, as described in section 4 | Only after you say yes | To understand how STAGE is used and make it better |
Your card number goes directly to Stripe. We never see it. There are no passwords: you sign in with a code or with Google.
We use what we collect only for the purposes above, to meet legal duties, and to protect STAGE and the people who use it. We do not use your words, your transcripts or your projects to train AI models. OpenAI's API terms say it does not train its models on what is sent through the API either.
We may disclose information when the law requires it, to protect someone's rights or safety, or as part of a sale or merger of the company, in which case this policy continues to apply to it until you are told otherwise.
3. Google sign-in
If you choose Continue with Google, Google shares your name, email address, profile picture address and Google account id with our sign-in service, Supabase Auth. We use them only to create your account, sign you in and show you who is signed in. They are stored with your account until you delete it. We do not sell them, or use them for advertising or to train AI models. We pass them on only as section 5 says: Supabase holds them, and if you buy a plan or a pack, Stripe gets your email address. We ask Google for nothing else: not your Gmail, your Drive or your contacts.
STAGE's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. You can remove STAGE's access at any time in your Google Account, under Security, and ask us to delete your data as described in section 8.
Sign-in with GitHub and Apple is not on today. If we turn either on, we will add it here first.
4. Usage analytics
Right after your first sign-in, the app asks once whether it may record how you use STAGE. Nothing is sent until you say yes. If you say no, nothing is sent and anything waiting on your Mac is deleted. A switch in Settings, “Record how I use STAGE,” changes your answer at any time. Events made before you answer wait on your Mac and are deleted by a no, by signing out, or after 5 days.
If you say yes, the app sends events to our API, which forwards them to Mixpanel, our analytics provider, without your IP address. The window itself runs no analytics code, and there is no autocapture and no session replay.
- What an event holds: a name from a fixed list, such as “video exported,” with only choices, numbers and yes-or-no values, such as which function ran, how it ended, and a length as a range. It also holds the time, a random id for the event, a random id for this Mac that is replaced at sign-out, your account id, the app and macOS versions, and your plan.
- What an event can never hold: a frame or a sound, a file name, a path, a project name, a prompt, a reply, a word of a transcript, a title or caption, an email address or a person's name.
- From our servers: for an account that said yes, we also record a sign-up, a checkout started, a subscription started, changed or cancelled, credits bought and a generation finished, each with only a plan, a pack, an amount or a status.
Our team's feed. Separately, our servers post a short line to a private Telegram channel that only the company reads, when something important happens: a new account, a subscription started, upgraded or cancelled, credits bought, a failed payment, a refund or a dispute. A line names the plan, the amount and the first 8 characters of your account id. It never holds your email address, your name, or anything you made or typed. These lines are how we run the business, so they do not depend on your answer about analytics. A first export by a new account and spikes of crashes appear there too, and those come only from people who said yes. Once a day the channel also gets totals with no account in them.
5. Who receives it
These companies process information for us so STAGE can work. We do not sell personal information to them or to anyone.
| Company | What it does for us | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| OpenAI | The AI model behind the assistant and text tasks | The instructions we write, what you type, the conversation so far, transcript text, project facts, and tool results. A chat request adds a one-way hash of your account id for abuse detection, never the id |
| Supabase | Sign-in and our database, in the United States | Your email address, sign-in code, IP address for its limits, your account, and the records in section 2 that are not words |
| Cloudflare | Runs our API and this website, stores our files, and runs the Turnstile check on email sign-in | Everything that passes through our API, in transit, and your IP address. For Turnstile, its own browser checks |
| Stripe | Payments, invoices and the billing page. We use one Stripe account for all of the company's products, and it shows the public name Company.inc on some of its pages and receipts | Your account id, email address, your plan or pack, and whatever you type on its pages |
| Resend | Delivers our sign-in emails | Your email address and the code |
| Google sign-in, if you choose it, and the email of hi@stage.video | What any Google sign-in carries, and whatever you write to us | |
| fal.ai | Generates shots and backgrounds | The sentence describing what to generate, a shape, a length and a quality. Not your account |
| Pixabay | Stock footage | The search words. Not your account |
| Mixpanel | Usage analytics, in the United States, only if you say yes | The events in section 4, with your account id and no IP address |
| GitHub | Runs the nightly job that backs up our database | A copy of the database, for the moments it takes to encrypt it. Only the encrypted copy is kept, at Cloudflare |
| Telegram | Carries our team's private feed | The short lines in section 4 |
Downloads your Mac makes itself. The app downloads a stock clip from Pixabay's servers, a generated file from fal.ai's servers, and the speech models it needs on first launch from our own storage at Cloudflare. These are plain downloads with no account attached, but as with any download, the server sees your Mac's IP address. If macOS needs a speech language pack, it gets that from Apple itself.
6. How long we keep it
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| Your account, plan, credit history and usage counts | Until you delete your account |
| What you type and your transcripts | We do not store them. They pass through our servers to OpenAI, which we ask not to store them for later use. OpenAI keeps abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days unless the law requires longer |
| A sentence describing a generation | Only until fal.ai has it, then we erase it. We keep the job's status and the address of its result until you delete your account. fal.ai keeps what it receives and makes under its own terms |
| Stock searches | The results stay cached for 24 hours, under a hash of the words |
| Sign-in codes and the sign-in handoff | 10 minutes at most |
| Your IP address for rate limits | Only as long as the limit's window lasts, up to about an hour |
| Records that stop a retried request from counting twice | 7 days |
| Our servers' logs | Up to 7 days, at Cloudflare |
| Backups of our database, which hold your account and the other records above | Encrypted, and kept for 30 days in a private bucket at Cloudflare, then erased |
| Payment records | Kept by Stripe, and by us as long as tax and accounting law requires |
| Usage analytics | Kept by Mixpanel until they are deleted. Saying no later stops anything new; we delete what was sent if you ask |
| Our team's feed | Kept by Telegram until we delete the lines |
| Emails with us | As long as we need them to help you and keep a record, or until you ask us to delete them, unless the law requires otherwise |
7. Your choices
- Analytics: say no when asked, or use the switch in Settings at any time.
- Words and transcripts: the assistant cannot do its job without your words, so there is no switch for this. It may read a video's transcript to understand any request about that video. If what is said in a video must not leave your Mac, do not ask STAGE to work on that video.
- Google: you can sign in with an email code instead, where that is available.
- Signing out ends your session on our side as well, when you are online, and removes it from your Mac.
- Your data: ask us for a copy, a correction or a deletion at hi@stage.video.
8. Deleting your account
The app does not have a delete button yet. To delete your account, email hi@stage.video from the address you sign in with and ask. We will confirm it is you, cancel any subscription, delete the account, and tell you when it is done, within 45 days.
What deleting removes: your account, profile, plan, credit balance and history, usage counts and generation records, from our database. Any credits you have left are lost. We also ask Mixpanel to delete what it holds under your account id, because deleting the account does not reach it by itself.
What it does not remove:
- Your projects and files on your Mac. They were never with us, so they remain yours to delete (see section 1).
- Stripe's payment records, which we and Stripe must keep for tax and accounting.
- Short-lived copies, which expire as section 6 says: server logs, OpenAI's abuse-monitoring logs, and encrypted backups of our database, which hold your account for up to 30 days after it is deleted.
- Lines already posted to our team's feed, which hold only the first 8 characters of an id that no longer exists.
- Our emails with you, unless you also ask us to delete them and the law lets us.
9. California: notice and rights
If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA, gives you these rights. This section is also our notice at collection.
What we collect
| Category | Examples in STAGE | Disclosed for a business purpose to | Kept |
|---|---|---|---|
| Identifiers | Email address, name, account id, IP address | Supabase, Cloudflare, Stripe, Resend, Google. Mixpanel gets the account id if you say yes. Telegram gets part of it | Account data until deleted. IP addresses as section 6 says |
| Customer records | Name, email address, payment records. Card numbers are held by Stripe, not us | Stripe, Supabase | Until deleted, and as tax law requires |
| Commercial information | Your plan, purchases and credit history | Stripe, Supabase. Mixpanel if you say yes. Telegram in short form | Until deleted, and as tax law requires |
| Internet or network activity | Log lines, usage counts, and analytics events if you say yes | Cloudflare, Supabase. Mixpanel if you say yes | Logs up to 7 days. Counts until deleted. Analytics until deleted on request |
| Audio, electronic or similar information | The text of what is said in your video, what you type, and project facts. Never the audio or video itself | OpenAI, Cloudflare in transit. Stock words to Pixabay and generation sentences to fal.ai | Not stored by us. OpenAI's logs up to 30 days |
| Sensitive personal information | We do not ask for it. If a transcript or message you send holds something sensitive, it is treated as above. We do not use it to infer anything about you | As above | As above |
We get this information from you, your Mac, and Google if you sign in with Google. We use it for the purposes in section 2. We hold no precise location, no government ids and no passwords.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we have not done so. We have no actual knowledge of selling or sharing the personal information of anyone under 16.
Your rights
- To know what personal information we hold about you, and to get a copy.
- To have it deleted, subject to the exceptions in the law.
- To have inaccurate information corrected.
- Not to be treated differently for using these rights.
Because we do not sell or share personal information, or use sensitive personal information beyond what the law allows, there is nothing to opt out of or limit. The app's analytics switch is there for you regardless.
How to use them
Email hi@stage.video from the address you sign in with, and say what you want. We confirm your request within 10 business days and answer within 45 days. If we need more time, up to 45 days more, we will tell you. We verify that it is you from that email address, and may ask for one more detail. An authorized agent can ask for you, with your signed permission, and we may check with you directly.
California residents may also ask once a year what personal information, if any, we disclosed to others for their direct marketing. We do not disclose it for that.
10. This website
stage.video sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising. If you switch it to dark, your browser remembers that on your device. Cloudflare serves the site and sees your IP address, as any web host would. We have turned off Cloudflare's request logs for this site.
The demo on the home page runs entirely in your browser. A file you drop on it stays there: it is shown in the list and goes nowhere.
11. Children
STAGE is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you think a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.
12. Security and location
All our traffic is encrypted in transit. Provider keys stay on our servers, never in the app. Your session on the Mac is encrypted with your Keychain. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot promise that yours or ours will never be compromised. If a breach affects your personal information, we will tell you as the law requires.
STAGE is offered in the United States, and your information is processed there.
13. Changes
When we change this policy we change the date at the top. If a change materially affects you, we will email you before it takes effect. We will not use personal information we already hold in a materially different way without telling you first and, where the law requires it, asking.
